PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a coke oven capable of lowering the coke extrusion force without lowering the productivity.
SOLUTION : The operation method of a coke oven comprises the steps of (a) measuring the coke shrinkage rate RT1 at a temperature T1 from the re-solidification temperature of the coal to the oven temperature T, (b) calculating the coke shrinkage rate R at each position in the oven width direction generated between the time of the re-solidification of the coal at the carbonization chamber central portion to the time of the coke extrusion from the coke shrinkage rate RT1 and the oven width direction temperature distribution, (c) calculating the gap Xc between the coke cake and the oven wall at the time of the coke extrusion based on the coke shrinkage rate R, (d) calculating the coke particle size D based on the coke shrinkage rate RT1 calculated in the step (a) and the oven temperature T, and (e) adjusting the staying time and the oven temperature so that the Rankine coefficient k is at a set value or lower based on the gap Xc between the coke cake and the oven wall, the coke particle size D, the gap Xm between the coke cake and the oven wall measured preliminarily, and the relationship between the coke particle size Dm and the Rankine coefficient k.
