PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cup-like electrode capable of achieving longevity compared with a metal cup-like electrode, and capable of further remarkably reducing power consumption than before in the case of emission of light with comparable emission luminance by enabling a tube current to flow comparable with a conventional one with a lower tube voltage than before, and a coldcathode fluorescent discharge tube equipped with the cup-like electrode.
SOLUTION : The cold cathode fluorescent discharge tube 2 has phosphor 10 coated on the inner surface of a glass tube 4 and rare gas sealed in the glass tube 4, and emits light in a glow discharge region. A cup-like electrode 8 is arranged at inner sides on both ends of the glass tube 4 so as to induce glow discharge in the glass tube 4, and a carbon film 12 is formed on its inner peripheral surface of the cup-like electrode 8.
