PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing an iron-based rare earth raw alloy, which is used for mass-production of a permanent magnet that shows high coercive-force and high magnetization, though the quantity of contained rare earth elements is small, and that is superior in rectangularity of a demagnetization curve. SOLUTION : This manufacturing method comprises a step of preparing the molten alloy having a composition formula of (Fe1-mTm)100-x-y-z-n(B1-pCp)xRyTizMn, wherein T is one or two of Co and Ni; R is one or more of Y and rare earth metals; M is one or more of Al, Si, V, Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn, Ga, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ag, Hf, Ta, W, Pt, Au, and Pb; and x, y, z, m, n, and p respectively satisfy 102Fe14B type compound phase.
