PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a stirring tool for friction stir welding, which has little danger of breaking or wearing in a process of friction stir welding of high melting point metallic materials such as steel materials and which can be manufactured using a material having a composition containing no rare metals in existing general purpose manufacturing facilities. SOLUTION : In the tool, the entirety or a tip end part 106 including a pin part 104 is formed by using molybdenum group two-phase alloy comprising a molybdenum phase or molybdenum solid solution and ceramics composed of at least one kind among carbide ceramics of titanium, zirconium and hafnium.
