PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas which enables a securement of an NH3 adsorptive capacity and a NOx adsorptive capacity due to zeolite and a NOx adsorbent while suppressing a discharge of NOx over a wide-temperature range by using at the same time the low-temperature type NOx adsorbent and a high-temperature type NOx occluded material. SOLUTION : In the catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas, which purifies NOx in the lean-burned exhaust gas, the NOx occluded material and the NOx adsorbent trapping NOx, and a solid acid compound having a predetermined pore size and adsorbing NH3 formed by a conversion of NOx trapped by the NOx occluded material and the NOx adsorbent under oxygen-deficient atmosphere conditions are contained in a catalyst layer, and at the same time, a rare-earth oxide binder material is contained.
