PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a catalyst having excellent activity with sufficient repeatability. SOLUTION : Provided is a method for producing a catalyst supported by a carrier for oxidizing acrolein having catalyst components represented by formula (1), the method comprising a step for producing a catalyst suspension by mixing under stirring the aqueous solutions of salts of metal components included in chemical formula (1) : MoaWbVcAdBeOx (1); a step for crushing a deposit in the suspension during or after the above step for producing the suspension; and a step for spraying the suspension obtained in the above step onto an inactive carrier while being dried with hot air. In the above formula, A represents one or more elements selected from the group consisting of iron, copper, bismuth, chromium, tin, antimony, nickel, cobalt, manganese, cerium and thallium; and B represents one or more elements selected from the group consisting of an alkaline metal and an alkaline-earth metal.
