PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a treatment method for selenium in a liquid containing sulfur oxide in which selenium contained in wastewater or in a liquid where sulfur oxide coexists is separated and recovered effectively. SOLUTION : Hydrochloric acid is added to wastewater containing sulfur oxide for pH adjustment (step S1). Ferrous chloride is added to reduce hexavalent selenium into tetravalent selenium (step S2). Thereafter, SO2 is oxidized into SO3 by blowing air (step S3). Then, a rare earth compound is added to absorb selenium (tetravalent) (step S4). Then, the rare earth compound which has absorbed the selenium is separated to recover a treatment liquid. COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
