PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a red phosphor with excellent light emitting characteristics and a light emitting device using the same. SOLUTION : The light emitting device includes : a pump source having a first luminescence spectrum emitting near ultra violet ray to blue light; and three or more sorts of phosphors emitting light having a second luminescence spectrum by absorbing at least a portion of light having the first luminescence spectrum. The phosphor contains Sr4Al14O25 : Eu or BaSi2O2N2, and a nitride phosphor activated by europium and emitting red light by absorbing the near ultra violet ray to blue light. The nitride phosphor is represented by a general formula MAlSiN3 : R (M is at least one selected from a group of Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba. R is a rare earth element). COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
