An Mg alloy having a reduced axial ratio is provided to obtain excellent formability of the alloy at room temperature even without generating twins by activating electric potential movements in a basal slip system and a non-basal slip system during the plastic deformation and obtain excellent mechanical properties of the alloy by solution-strengthening the added elements in a matrix structure, and a method of manufacturing a Mg alloy sheet using the Mg alloy is provided. An Mg alloy having a reduced axial ratio is represented by the formula Mg100-x-yAxBy, wherein : the A is rare earth elements, one or more elements selected from commercialized alloys comprising the rare earth elements, or alloys thereof; the B is one or more elements selected from beryllium(Be), aluminum(Al), silicon(Si), cobalt(Co), nickel(Ni), copper(Cu), zinc(Zn), gallium(Ga), germanium(Ge), palladium(Pd), silver(Ag), cadmium(Cd), indium(In), tin(Sn), antimony(Sb), lead(Pb), bismuth(Bi), calcium(Ca), manganese(Mn), molybdenum(Mo), cobalt(Co), nitrogen(N), carbon(C), phosphorous(P), boron(B), and strontium(Sr); the x and y are 6 wt.% or less and 5 wt.% or less respectively; and the B has an axial ratio c/a of 1.61 or less that is defined as a ratio of a height(c) of the unit crystal to a side length(a) of a unit crystal of the Mg matrix by increasing solid solution of the A in the Mg matrix.
