PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a white light emitting device capable of achieving improved color reproducibility and being excellent in stability and reliability of phosphor materials. SOLUTION : The white light emitting device 100 includes a blue LED 105, a green silicate phosphor 116 arranged on the blue LED 105 and a red sulfide phosphor 118 arranged on the blue LED 105 and coated with silicon oxide film. The green phosphor contains Eu doped (Ba, Sr, Ca, Mg)2SiO4. The red phosphor may contain Eu doped (Ca, Sr) (S, Se) : Eu. At least one of rare-earth element selected from a group consisting of Ce, Pr, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er may be added to the green phosphor, and at least one of rare-earth element selected from a group consisting of Ce, Pr, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho and Er may be added to the red phosphor.
