A re-threshing apparatus (66) for a combine harvester (10) includes a rotor (68) having threshing elements (75) mounted thereon extending substantially radially. The rotor (68) is rotationally mounted within a housing (72) at least partially surrounding the rotor. The housing (72) includes an inlet and an outlet. The housing (72) has a wall portion (74) with rasp bars (73) extending toward the rotor (68). The wall portion (74) is substantially solid, i.e., material re-threshed by the rasp bars remains within the housing until it moves through the housing outlet.
