PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To further improve luminance characteristics of an oxysulfide phosphor. SOLUTION : A phosphor 105 in this embodiment is a rare earth oxysulfide phosphor with an alkali metal supported on a surface thereof. The rare earth oxysulfide phosphor is represented by M2O2S : N (wherein M is at least one element selected form Y, La and Gd, and N is at least one element selected from Pr, Tb and Eu), and it is, e.g., Y2O2S : Eu, La2O2S : Eu, Gd2O2S : Eu or Gd2O2S : Tb.
