PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high strength Cr-Ni alloy material having excellent hot workability and stress corrosion cracking resistance, and to provide a seamless steel pipe for an oil well using the same. SOLUTION : The high strength Cr-Ni alloy material has a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.05% C, 0.05 to 1.0% Si, 0.01 to <3.0% Mn, ≤0.05% P, ≤0.005% S, 0.01 to 4% Cu, 25 to <35% Ni, 20 to 30% Cr, 0.01 to <4.0% Mo, 0.10 to 0.30% N, 0.03 to 0.30% Al, ≤0.01% O (oxygen) and 0.01 to 0.20% REM (rare earth metals), and the balance Fe with impurities, and also satisfying the conditions in inequality : N×P/REM≤0.40. The seamless steel pipe for an oil well is obtained by using the same. Instead of a part of Fe, further, one or more kinds selected from W, Ti, Nb, Zr, V, Ca and Mg can be contained therein; where, P, N and REM in the inequality denote the contents of P, N and REM (mass%), respectively.
