PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of efficiently separating and recovering a rare element in a spent nuclear fuel. SOLUTION : Hydrochloric acid dissolved solution of a fission product in a nuclear reactor, especially a fast breeder reactor, is gradually electrolyzed with constant current, the rare element contained in the spent nuclear fuel is deposited to an electrode of a negative electrode 101 by electrolytic reduction and thus separated from the other elements.
