PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth complex having a large absorption constant, emitting light in a good efficiency and also having a good solubility to an organic solvent.SOLUTION : This 10-dentate rare earth complex of Eu3+ or Sm3+ expressed by general formula (1) [wherein, auxiliary ligands L1 to L4 are each the same or different lewis base, and one compound may be formed by 2 to 4 among them] is synthesized by a ligand exchange in one step.
