The invention provides a method of efficient preparation of a precursor of a rare earth activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide stimulable phosphor exhibiting superior plate characteristics, a rare earth activated alkaline earth metal fluorohalide stimulable phosphor obtained from the precursor and a radiation image conversion panel comprising the stimulable phosphor and exhibiting enhanced sensitivity and improved image quality.
