PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a rare earth sintered magnet that does not cause hydrogen embrittlement even in hydrogen atmosphere and can be used for a motor. SOLUTION : An alloy comprising of 20 to 35 wt.% R (R : one or two or more kinds of rare earth elements selected from Nd, Pr, Dy, Tb and Ho), at most 15 wt.% Co, 0.2 to 8 wt.% B, at most 8 wt.% at least one kind of element selected from Ni, Nb, Al, Ti, Zr, Cr, V, Mn, Mo, Si, Sn, Ga, Cu and Zn as an additive, the balance Fe, and inevitable impurities is subjected to dissolution, casting, pulverization, fine pulverization, molding in magnetic field, sintering and heat treatment one by one, thus forming a sintered magnet. After the sintered magnetic is cut and/or polished and the surface is processed, copper plating is applied, and multilayer plating for applying nickel plating thereto is carried out. Thereafter, it is subjected to heat treatment for 10 minutes-50 hours at 80-700°C. Anti-hydrogen property of a rare earth sintered magnet is improved in this way. COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT
