PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide technique for growing the crystal of BIG (bismuth-substituted rare-earth iron garnet single crystal), capable of reducing the amount of lead contained in the BIG to be 0.1 wt.% concerning an LPE (liquid phase epitaxial) method with lead as a flux composition. SOLUTION : The mixture of the lead with the BIG is suppressed by allowing an Sr/Pb mole concentration ratio in melt to be not less than 0.07 concerning BIG growing by the LPE method, using the melt which is composed of the flux composition containing rare-earth oxide and the lead.
