The procedure for treatment of gaseous fuel from natural gas or gaseous petroleum byproduct by an arrangement, comprises compressing and recooling incoming gas mixture in a first compressor stage (1) to a pressure above 10 bar, removing the resulting condensate from the gas stream in a gas/liquid-separator (3), and leading the gas through an adsorber to remove interfering components and then to a first membrane separation stage (5). The hydrocarbon mixture resulting at the membrane separation stage is available as processed fuel (6) for the subsequent motor-driven combustion. A first permeate flow (7) is recompressed in a second compressor stage (9) to a pressure above 10 bar and recooled. The resulting condensate is separated from the gas stream in a gas/liquid-separator (11). The gas is led through a further separator e.g. an adsorber for removal of interfering gaseous components and then led to the second membrane separation stage. The hydrocarbon mixture resulting at the concentrate side of the second membrane separation stage is mixed as processed fuel (14) with the exhausted gas flow (6) from the first membrane separation stage, and is made available for the motor-driven combustion A second permeate flow (15) is mixed with the first permeate flow (7) at the suction side of the second compressor stage. The condensate flows resulting in the gas/liquid-separators are led after an optional throttling in a three-phase separator, from which the resulting liquid condensate is removed for disposal. The resulting residual gas is led to a further thermal recycling process and the resulting liquid gas mixture is available in a collecting tank. The permeate flows saturated with higher hydrocarbons are separated from the raw gas flow in the first- and second membrane separation and results at a pressure below 10 bar. The first compressor stage in combination with the recooling and subsequent gas/liquid-separator is omitted, if there is a sufficiently high input pressure of the incoming natural gas or gaseous petroleum byproduct.
