PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To secure an excellent color temperature characteristic as an image-projecting high-pressure discharge lamp while considering environment. SOLUTION : In this high-pressure discharge lamp, electrodes 151, 152 are disposed inside a bulb 11 made of transparent quartz glass at a counter distance ≤3.0 mm. A first halogen metal containing at least Sc, Dy, and Nd selected from Sc, Dy, Nd, In, and the other rare-earth metal, a second halogen metal containing at least Zn selected from Zn, Mn, Fe, and Al, and a rare gas ≥2 atmospheric pressure are sealed inside the bulb 11. Sealing amounts of the halogenated metals of Dy and Nd are 1.0 mg/mm3 or above, and the high-pressure discharge lamp is driven without essentially containing mercury, with input power ≥80 W, with a lamp voltage/an inter-electrode distance =10 V/mm or above.
