PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen generating system to generate hydrogen gas low in ammonia concentration. SOLUTION : In a hydrogen generating system HGS including the hydrogen generating system 19 which is consisting of a hydrogen storing member 21 composed of a metal amide containing a metal element selected from an alkaline metal element and an alkaline-earth metal element, nitrogen, and hydrogen, and a metal hydride selected from the alkaline metal element and the alkaline-earth metal element, and of a tank 20 to house this hydrogen storing member 21, the outermost layer 21a of the hydrogen storing member 21 facing a hydrogen ejection port (exit) 20a of the tank 20 is composed of the metal hydride.
