PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an optical fiber laser which is capable of oscillating in an exciting light wavelength band or in a wavelength band close thereto. SOLUTION : The optical fiber laser includes an optical fiber 1 which has a hollow core area 2; an inner clad area 4 that has a plurality of vacancies 3 encircling the hollow core area 2, and that contains an added rare earth element; and an outer clad area 5 that encircles the inner clad area 4, and that has a refraction factor lower than that of a filled portion of the inner clad area 4. The optical fiber laser also includes a light source 32 which emits exciting light onto the optical fiber 1, and a reflector 23 which causes laser light to oscillate in the optical fiber 1 by reflecting back light emitted from the rare earth element to propagate through the optical fiber 1 from an end of the optical fiber 1 to the inside of the optical fiber 1.
