PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode material suitable for an electrode of a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp; to provide a manufacturing method of an electrode for a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp using the electrode material; and to provide a long-life cold-cathode fluorescent lamp having further high luminance. SOLUTION : This cold-cathode fluorescent lamp is provided with a glass tube having a phosphor layer on an inside wall surface with a rare gas and mercury enclosed in its inside; and a pair of electrodes arranged at both ends in the glass tube. Each electrode is formed out of a Ni alloy containing 0.001-5.0 mass%, in total, of at least one kind of element selected from Ti, Hf, Zr, V, Fe, Nb, Mo, Mn, W, Sr, Ba, B, Th, Be, Si, Al, Y, Mg, In, and a rare-earth element, wherein the remaining part comprises Ni and impurities. By using the electrodes each made of the Ni alloy of the above composition instead of elemental nickel, a discharge property, oxidation resistance, spattering resistance, reaction resistance with mercury can be improved, and the increase of luminance and extension of the service life thereof can be achieved.
