PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To suppress the amplification gain difference small for the amplified output signal light of each wavelength. SOLUTION : A wavelength multiplex light amplifier comprises a rare earth doped optical fiber (EDF) 1 that amplifies a wavelength multiplex signal light to be outputted including a signal light 1 of a first wavelength band and a signal light 2 of a second wavelength band, first stimulation means (stimulating LD36) that makes the light of a third wavelength (0.98 μm) incident on the rare earth doped optical fiber for stimulation, a second stimulation means (stimulation LD35) that makes the light of a fourth wavelength (1.48 μm) different from the third wavelength incident for stimulation, output signal light intensity detecting means that branches the wavelength multiplex light signal outputted from the rare earth doped optical fiber, separates the signal light of the first wavelength band and the signal light of the second wavelength band, and detects the intensity of the light signal of each wavelength band, and light output control means that controls the output light intensity of the first and second stimulation means based on the information from the output signal light intensity detecting means, so that difference in intensity between the signal light of the first wavelength band and the signal light of the second wavelength band is reduced.
