The present invention relates to a sensor element for determining a portion of gas in a measuring gas, in particular of an oxygen component in an exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, comprising a layer (13), which at least one phosphorus binding element (14), selected from the group consisting of calcium and/or magnesium and/or rare earth and/or barium and/or strontium or any combination of these elements, comprises, to bind phosphorus contained in the measurement gas as powdered, crystalline phosphorus compound.
