PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an alloy for a rare-earth iron-boron permanent magnet having less dispersions of the magnetic characteristics. SOLUTION : The alloy for the rare-earth iron-boron permanent magnet is manufactured by a manufacturing method comprising process for melting an alloy raw material in a first vessel 20 in a vacuum or in an inert-gas atmosphere, the process for discharging the molten alloy into a second vessel 40 with a formed through-hole 45 from the first vessel 20, and the process for making the molten metal flow through the through-hole 45 and forming the alloy for a bar-shaped magnet. The alloy for the magnet is formed into a bar shape, and the crystal of the alloy is formed into a columnar crystal that grows in substantially the radial direction toward the central direction from the outer periphery of the bar shape.
