PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare-earth permanent magnet that is excellent in corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, heat cycle property, wettability, and hydrogen resistance; and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION : The rare-earth permanent magnet has a hydrogen-containing amorphous carbon coating film via a base coating film, which is composed of at least one kind of metal selected from among Cu, Ni, Al, and Zn or an alloy including the metals, on the surface of a magnet.
