PURPOSE : A light emitting device is provided to enhance light emissive characteristics and to improve the resistance against water, moisture and solvent by using an improved fluorescent material. CONSTITUTION : A light emitting device includes at least one light emitting element(6) for generating light with predetermined wavelengths and a fluorescent material. The fluorescent material(3) contains copper and alkali earth metal as a host lattice component. The fluorescent material contains a compound activated by a rare earth element. The fluorescent material is arranged around the light emitting element to transform the wavelengths of the light emitted from the light emitting element into different wavelengths. © KIPO 2007
