PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ceramic composition whose resistance varies non-linearly depending on the applied voltage which can be sintered sufficiently and can be reduced in electrostatic capacity, even if the circuit voltage is lowered and has superior lifetime characteristics with respect to high voltage load, and to provide an electronic component, such as a multilayer chip varistor which uses the composition. SOLUTION : The ceramic composition, whose resistance varies non-linearly depending on the applied voltage, consists of a main component containing a zinc oxide, a first subcomponent containing an oxide of a rare earth element, a second subcomponent containing an Sb oxide, and a third subcomponent containing at least one kind of either the oxide of Cr or Mo.
