Disclosed is a rare earth sintered magnet having a main phase composed of an Nd2Fe14B crystal phase and added with Al. The rare earth sintered magnet contains at least one light rare earth element LR selected from the group consisting of yttrium and rare earth elements other than Dy, Ho and Tb, and at least one heavy rare earth element HR selected from the group consisting of Dy, Ho and Tb. The compositional ratio α1 of the light rare earth elements LR, the compositional ratio α2 of the heavy rare earth elements HR, and the compositional ratio β of Al satisfy the following relations : 25 ≤ α1 + α2 ≤ 40 mass%; 0 0.20 mass%; and 0.04 ≤ β/α2 ≤ 0.12.
