Claimed is a thermal blanket made of plastic sheeting incorporating 0.1-20% Wt. granular zirconium carbide. The ZrC absorbs visible and non-visible radiation and converts this into heat energy which is retained for an extended period. Radiation above 3000 nm is reflected.
