A gas filled frame for permanently protecting and displaying precious paintings and calligraphies and rare cultural relics comprises a displaying frame body (1), a pressure-resistant cabin (3), a vacuum pump (4) and an inert gas storage tank (5). The displaying frame body is composed of a rectangular metal framework (6), a glass faceplate (7) and a backplate (8) that is airtightly connected to the framework (6). The framework is provided with a breather (2) at the underside thereof, and a flexible gasbag (17) is provided inside the breather. The flexible gasbag is communicated with the inside of the framework through a circular hole (14) at the underside of the framework. After articles to be preserved are put in the displaying frame body, the displaying frame body is put into the cabin, the cabin is then sealed and vacuumized and then filled with high-purity inert gas, thus the inside of the frame becomes such a subenvironment that is oxygenfree and dustless, has not redundant water vapour or noxious gas and also not any microorganism or mildew but only high-purity inert gas. Furthermore, the air pressure inside the frame is the same as the environmental atmospheric pressure regardless of the change of ambient temperature. The physical, chemical and biologic influence on the preserved articles, which will cause said articles to be worn or destroyed, has been eliminated, so the paintings and calligraphies and cultural relics inside the frame can be permanently preserved and displayed with low cost.
