PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a BaRe2Ti5O14or BaRe2Ti4O12based dielectric ceramic obtained by combustion synthesis and having excellent sintering characteristics and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic is expressed by the compositional formula of BaRe2TimO2m+4(wherein, 3≤m≤7; m is an integer; and Re is a rare earth element) and is obtained by blending a prescribed ratio of Bi2O3as an additive into reaction raw materials at least containing Ti powder having 0.01 to 2 m2/g specific surface area, TiO2, an Re oxide or an Re hydroxide, BaO2and an ionically bonding material to become an oxygen supply source in a prescribed ratio and carrying out the combustion synthesis at an adiabatic flame temperature of ≥1, 500°C.
