FIELD : production of solid propellants on moon.
SUBSTANCE : proposed method of production of solid propellant on moon includes preparation of finely ground vulcanizate from tires followed by preparation of metal powder from metal cord cleaned from vulcanizate, preparation of potassium nitrate or perchlorate for solid rocket propellant from moon rocks, delivery of finely ground vulcanizate, metal powder and potassium nitrate or perchlorate to mixing section; mixing of these components and delivery of mixture thus obtained to mold for making the charge or hollow cylindrical section of solid rocket propellant. Use of moon cryogenic temperature and solar energy reduces power requirements, thus making it possible to perform large-scale production of rocket propellant on moon.
EFFECT : reduced power requirements; low cost of process; possibility of performing return flights to earth or other planets.
