PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a nickel-hydrogen storage battery having high capacity, excelling in a high-rate charge-discharge characteristic and excelling in a storage characteristic by suppressing self-discharge as well. SOLUTION : This nickel-hydrogen storage battery includes a positive electrode 1, a negative electrode 2 using a hydrogen storage alloy; an alkaline electrolyte, and a fibrous separator 3 arranged between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. In the nickel-hydrogen storage battery, the negative electrode is composed by using a hydrogen storage alloy represented by general formula Ln1-xMgxNiy-a-bAlaMb, wherein Ln is at least one kind of element selected from a rare-earth element, Zr and Ti, M is at least one kind of element selected from V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, Mn, Fe, Co, Ga, Zn, Sn, In, Cu, Si, P, B and Zr, and conditions of 0.05≤xCOPYRIGHT : (C)2007, JPO&INPIT
