PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a cellulose acylate film by a melt method that is hardly rupturable even at a raised stretching ratio in the case of stretching the film and is easily controllable at a desired retardation (Re). SOLUTION : The method for producing a cellulose acylate film comprises discharging a resin, that is melted by an extruder 11, through die 12 in a sheet form on a rotating cooling drum 14 and solidifying the same, wherein the temperature of the molten resin at the outlet of the die 12 is so controlled that a measured retardation (Re) of the cellulose acylate film 16 is kept within a range of -10 to 80 nm as measured using a Re-measuring means 15 and when the longitudinal direction of the cellulose acylate film 16 is the slow axis.
