PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve the strength of a ceramic composite material produced by a PIP (polymer infiltration and pyrolysis) process, more particularly the strength after the material is exposed to high temperature. SOLUTION : The ceramic composite material is produced by impregnating a fabric consisting of fibers of an inorganic material with a polymer containing a rare earth oxide and firing the fabric to produce ceramics in which the fibers are bonded to each other.
