HYDROGEN STORAGE MATERIAL AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen storage material which contains a small amount of rare elements, and is lightweight and capable of storing/releasing a large amount of hydrogen at a relatively low temperature. SOLUTION : The hydrogen storage material is represented by composition formula : (Ca1-xLix)1-zSiz (wherein, 0.25≤x≤0.4 and 0.38≤x≤0.58). The method for manufacturing the hydrogen storage material has a compounding process of blending CaH2, LiH and Si so that the ratios of Ca, Li and Si satisfy the composition formula : (Ca1-xLix)1-zSiz (wherein, 0.25≤x≤0.4 and 0.38≤x≤0.58) and compounding the resulting blend in a mechanical mixing process and a heat treating process of heat treating the composite of the hydrides obtained in the compounding process.
