The halide lamp has an ionizable fill comprising an inert gas, mercury and metal halides, with a halogen. An outer bulb (12) is made from hard glass or quartz glass and a discharge vessel (2) is made from quartz glass and contains two electrodes (3), where the outer bulb partially surrounds the discharge vessel. A space between the discharge vessel and the outer bulb contains a gas fill.
