The present invention relates to a leave-on or rinse-out hair conditioning or styling aid composition that comprises : a) a silicone quaternary compound, b) a cationic thickener, andc) a carrier, wherein said carrier is water, or a hydroalcoholic solvent; and wherein said composition is substantially lacking in fatty alcohol.
