PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a dielectric ceramic having good accelerated life and high reliability even under high electric field intensity significantly higher than 10 kV/mm.
SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic contains main phase particles containing a barium titanate-based solid solution expressed by compositional formula : BamTiO2+m and secondary phase particles comprising a crystalline multiple oxide expressed by compositional formula : MgnVOt. In the formulas, m, n and t preferably satisfy 1.001≤m≤1.030, 0.3≤n≤5.0, and 1.5+n≤t≤2.5+n. The blending molar ratio α of MgnVOt to 100 mol of BamTiO2+m is 0.05 to 2.0. Thereby, the dielectric characteristics, the temperature characteristic of capacitance, and the insulating property can be improved. Further, the dielectric ceramic may contain a specified rare earth element or a metal element as occasion demands and moreover a sintering aid containing Si.
