Preparation of a sulfate-free polyaluminumchloride solution with high basicity comprises partial neutralization of a sulfate-free polyaluminumchloride solution with average basicity with an alkaline-earth salt. Independent claims are included for polyaluminumchloride solution, obtained by the method, exhibiting the basicity of 55-75 (preferably 60-65) % and comprising aluminum ion (Al3>+>) (5-8 (preferably 5-7.5)%) and magnesium ion (Mg2>+>) (0.1-7 (preferably 1.2-2.5)%).
