PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) in which a reaction suppression layer is prevented from separating from a solid electrolyte layer and adhesiveness at an interface between these two layers is improved.SOLUTION : A material for forming a reaction suppression layer includes, as a cerium oxide particle component doped with a rare earth element, a large particle size cerium oxide particle component and a small particle size cerium oxide particle component which have particle size distributions and average particle sizes different from each other. The large particle size cerium oxide particle component has an average particle size of 2 μm or less, the small particle size cerium oxide particle component has an average particle size of 0.5 μm or less, and the average particle size of the large particle size cerium oxide particle component is 3 times or more and 30 times or less the average particle size of the small particle size cerium oxide particle component.
