PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic in which a dielectric constant is high even if the dielectric substance is made into fine particles corresponding to a thin layer, further, the change rate of the dielectric constant by DC bias application is satisfactory even to the increase of loaded electric field intensity by layer thinning, and the mean time to failure is long, and to provide a multilayer ceramic capacitor. SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic comprises Ca, Sr, Mg, Mn and rare earth elements, and further comprises the main crystal grains in which at least a part of the Ca, Sr, Mg, Mn and rare earth elements is allowed to enter into solid solution in perovskite type barium titanate crystal grains (BCT type crystal grains) wherein a part of the A site is substituted with the Ca, and the content of an Al element is ≤0.01 mass% expressed in terms of oxide. In the main crystal grains, the Ca concentration in the surface side of each grain is higher than that in the center of each grain, a core shell type structure in which the Sr, Mg, Mn and rare earth elements are uneven distribution on the surface side of each grain is formed, and the average grain size is 0.1 to 0.5 μm.
