The invention relates to a retrofitting system for technical systems, particularly transportation systems. A universally expandable retrofitting system, in which only a slight intervention in the existing system structure is necessary, consists of stand-alone multifunctional retrofitting units, particularly monitors, loudspeakers, microphones, cameras and image processing units, whereby the communication between the retrofitting units ensues by means of retrofitting-friendly channels, particularly radio, infrared, powerline and bodyline, and automatic configuration mechanisms, particularly based on plug-and-play-capable retrofitting units are provided for system configuration.
