PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a catalyst for sufficiently reducing CO concentration in gaseous hydrogen by dispersing a multiple oxide of a base metal and an rare earth metal including a platinum group metal with an active alumina on the surface of a ceramic integrated carrier to selectively oxidize CO in a temp. range capable of preventing the cohesion of water contained in gaseous hydrogen. SOLUTION : One of palladium chloride, palladium sulfate and dinitrodiamine palladium as palladium, one of ruthenium chloride and ruthenium nitrate as ruthenium, copper nitrate, cerium nitrate and neodymium nitrate are dispersed and mixed in a pure water. The mixed solution is added into an sodium octylate solution and the produced octylate compound is filtered, dried and fired to obtain the multiple oxide of the base metal and the rare earth metal including the platinum group metal. A slurry obtained by kneading the multiple oxide and the activated alumina with the nitric acidic alumina sol is applied on the ceramic integrated carrier and fired under a combustion gas atmosphere of an oxidizing state.
