PURPOSE : A protecting layer, a composite for preparing the same, a method for preparing the same, and a plasma display device including the same are provided to reduce a discharge delay time and improve temperature dependency by using a magnesium oxide including rare-earth elements of particular contents. CONSTITUTION : A protective layer is formed of a magnesium oxide having one or more elements selected from a group including rare-earth elements. The contents of the rare-earth elements correspond to 5.0×10^-5 weight percent to 6.0×10^-4 weight percent when the magnesium oxide is 1 weight percent. The rare-earth element is scandium. © KIPO 2006
