PURPOSE : A cold cathode fluorescent lamp having an improved electrode is provided to improve over-heat in a welding process with a lead wire and prevent a surface oxidation in a sealing process with a glass tube.
CONSTITUTION : A cold cathode fluorescent lamp(1) includes a glass tube(2), cylindrical electrodes(7), and lead wires(9). The glass tube is filled with at least a rare gas. A phosphor layer(15) is formed on an inner wall face of the glass tube. The cylindrical electrodes are arranged in an inner space of the glass tube. Each of the lead wires includes one end coupled with the cylindrical electrode and the other end drawn out to the outside of the glass tube. The cylindrical electrode includes a first metal layer for forming an inner face, a second metal layer for forming an outer face, and a sintered metal layer formed between the first and second metal layers. The lead wire is attached to the second metal layer of the cylindrical electrode. A metal for forming the second metal layer has a melting point lower than a melting point of the sintered metal layer. The metals of the first and second metal layers are readily reduced in comparison with the sintered metal.
