PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for easily producing a rare earth acid sulfide only from a rare earth oxide and a sulfur raw material at a low cost without depending on heating. SOLUTION : A rare earth acid sulfide is synthesized by mixing a rare earth oxide and a sulfur raw material, e.g. by mechanical milling using a ball mill device while mechanically applying energy thereto without performing heating from the outside.
