PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a functional coating material composition for building materials, or the like, deodorizing and decomposing ammonia smell, formaldehyde, or the like, and preventing the emergence of fungi by continuing the generation of a large amount of anions in day and night, especially in the night. SOLUTION : This coating material composition for the building materials contains a mixed fine powder comprising fine powder of tourmaline and a raw material ore powder of zirconium oxide containing lanthanide rare earth elements, and titanium dioxide having photocatalytic activities. The composition provides the deodorant effects and antimicrobial effects by accelerating the generating rate of the anions and increasing the generated amount even in a dark place.
